Discourse Analysis: American Leaders

This module focuses on and explores key speeches given at key moments in time by American presidents, and other important leaders, as a way to shed light on how leaders articulate or challenge the dominant paradigms of the United States through time.  Through close readings and analysis of the rhetorical devices and techniques used by these orators, students also learn how language can be used politically to manufacture consent or challenge it.
